May 30, 2026 – Ottawa: ThreeDify today announced Stochastic Multi-pit Scheduler for its GeoMine platform. The Stochastic Scheduler brings geological uncertainty, coordinated multi-pit scheduling, and economic optimization together in one integrated tool — capabilities that, until now, required separate systems. to generate the underlying geostatistical simulations, forcing a fragmented workflow that breaks the link between uncertainty modeling and scheduling.
✅ Closing a gap in mine planning: Stochastic Scheduler was built to close that gap. It handles multiple orebody realizations while optimizing economics across time periods, coordinating several pit regions at once, and enforcing real-world mining constraints — all within GeoMine.
✅ What Stochastic Scheduler delivers: Developed in 2025 as a companion to GeoMine’s existing iScheduler, Stochastic Scheduler introduces several advances in production scheduling methodology:
- Topology-driven material access. A new hierarchical Mine Site structure organizes material into pits, nested pits, and levels, tracking active levels per pit per period. This lets the scheduler determine available material in constant time per pit, rather than iterating through every block, and lets it inherit correct geological ordering directly from upstream pit optimization.
- Concurrent multi-pit scheduling. When a higher-priority pit reaches its sinking-rate limit for a period, Stochastic Scheduler automatically evaluates the next-highest-priority pit for available material — keeping production moving instead of stalling.
- Accurate stockpile accounting. Stockpile inventory is now tracked with volume-weighted grade averaging across all contributing blocks, replacing a simpler method and validated against independently computed net-present-value results.
- Improved solver stability. The team identified and resolved a numerical-stability issue in the underlying linear-programming solver, using proportionate scaling to preserve decision ranking while keeping the optimization robust at production scale.
“Deterministic plans give a single answer to a problem that is fundamentally uncertain. Stochastic Scheduler lets planners work with the full range of geological outcomes and still make sound economic decisions across every pit on the site — in one integrated workflow, without stitching tools together.” — Dr. Yaohong Jiang, CTO at ThreeDify Inc.
✅ Part of a broader stochastic platform: Stochastic Scheduler is one component of ThreeDify’s wider investment in stochastic geostatistical modeling, which includes GPU-accelerated variogram computation, Kriging efficiency and related simulation capabilities. Together, these efforts extend GeoMine to a unified platform for uncertainty-aware resource estimation, optimization, and scheduling.
Development continues, with ThreeDify prioritizing tighter integration of enhanced staging enforcement in upcoming releases.
